Winter Warmers

It’s that time of the year again. The time when we are reaching for the long sleeves, the layers, the clothing that will keep our little loves warm.

I love to layer up my little ones during the cooler months, but i don’t want it to restrict their adventurous side either. Puddle stomping, running, climbing, you name it, it still happens whether it’s rain hail or shine outside here! I keep this in mind when i am creating my winter offerings.

My materials are the softest i can find, with a 4 way stretch for my knit fabrics to allow for the adventure to continue. They are warm and wash so well and don’t lose their shape. Ticking all the boxes for versatile childrens wear!

I am about quality, rather than quantity. Every piece that has The Owl Barn label, is made by hand, professionally finished, made using the finest materials sourced from around the world. It is soft, it is breathable, it is gentle on little tummies!

Nothing can grow your brand and loyal following more than word of mouth, and that can be achieved by having a quality product. Lovers of my brand know that every item they receive will have the same high standard of craftsmanship  as the last!

Layer with warmth!

I’ve always been a big fan of layering for winter warmth! I also love clothing styles that give freedom of movement with busy children’s arms so that they can still play, but not feel the cold!

I keep these principles in mind when i am creating my clothing for my business. Why…..?

Being a mother of 3 VERY active young children, i make a lot of pieces for them. If my handmade clothing can keep its shape, colour and quality with their busy lifestyle, then i am sure it can withstand almost anything! And that’s important.

Yes, we love our children to look beautiful or funky, but we also want them to be able to wear the clothing too, and by wear the clothing, i mean not walk around feeling like their arms are pinned to their sides, or they can’t walk properly because the fit around the crotch doesn’t allow them to.

I love colour, and this winter release has allowed me to use some stunning colours and blend them together into a gorgeous collection.

 

With layering in mind, imagine the different ways that my Twirl Skirts can be worn. (Pictured above)

Tights with boots, flats or gumboots are my go-to’s for a great look.

Trends, colours, prints!?!

So here’s the thing…..do you dress your children with the current trends and latest fashion accessories or do you dress them with what suits them and their personality?

I like the latter option personally. In every step of my creative process, i try to think a little outside the norm, or what is expected and create a unique look to reflect different tastes and personalities of the little ones who will be wearing them.

Fit, comfort and softness are my big boxes to tick. The materials i use have to be the best quality and stand up to active children, as well as being soft on their delicate skin.

Yes i do love to use prints that may be in demand, but i will never sacrifice this for quality!

I have 3 very active young children, and i regularly make new pieces for their wardrobe. They are my testers if you like, and i love that they are so enthusiastic to be involved. They wear their new clothes with pride! Brings a smile to my dial.

Winter collection is now available and i am already starting to put my ideas in motion and order my fabrics for Spring. I like to be proactive and be ahead of the season.

Since my little owls joined our barn it has been a passion of mine to create an online children’s boutique. At The Owl Barn you will find ‘funky, fun and affordable’, fashionable  products that i adore, and personally make, and I use with my own children.

I adore my perfect little creations, and I know that shopping can be a challenge!

Handmade unique, funky and quality clothing and accessories for your ‘little miss’ and ‘little mister’.

I love unique clothing and love making unique pieces for my own children. I source fabrics from around the world.

All items are professionally finished for quality, longevity and safety. You can feel comfortable knowing that I would never make or sell anything that I wouldn’t use with my own children. I use both 100% Screen Printed Cotton and 100% Organic Cotton fabrics. Safe and secure snap press fasteners are used on our Barndana Dribble Bibs.
